About Me
I am a Family Medicine board-certified physician with a focus in Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine.
The Bay Area has been my home for more than 20 years after moving here to attend the University of California, Berkeley (go Bears!) where I studied psychology. I received my medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), and completed my family medicine residency at Santa Rosa Family Medicine Residency in 2017. I never imagined being both a physician and a new parent during a pandemic, but I credit this time as the catalyst to finding my passion in all things lactation. In 2022, I completed the UCSD Pathway 2 Program and became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
I am co-chair of the Alameda County Breastfeeding Coalition and an active member of the coalition’s Latina Chicana (LatCh) Lactation Taskforce. I am very committed to teaching and have been volunteer community faculty in the UCSF Family Medicine and Community Medicine program since 2018. I am actively working to bridge my interests in teaching and lactation by creating learning opportunities for future and current physicians to learn more about lactation so they can provide evidenced-based care to families.
On my continued path of learning, in 2023, I joined the second cohort of fellows in the Lessons in Lactation Advanced Curriculum Fellowship—University of Rochester. I am also an author for Trash the Pump and Dump and a moderator for Dr. MILK (Mothers Interested in Lactation Knowledge), an online forum providing peer-to-peer lactation support for physicians.
